Ve bir mü'min başka bir mü'mini asla öldüremez; hataen olursa o başka. Bir mü'mini hata ile öldüren kişi ise, mü'min birini özgürlüğe kavuşturur ve müktulün yakınlarına diyet öder; eğer onlar diyeti bağışlarlarsa, o başka. Maktul mü'min olduğu halde size düşman olan bir topluma mensupsa, o zaman mü'min birini özgürlüğe kavuşturmak (yeterlidir). Ama o sizinle arasında anlaşma olan bir topluma mensupsa, bu durumda mü'min birini özgürlüğüne kavuşturmak ve yakınlarına diyet ödemek gerekir. Buna imkan bulamayanlar peş peşe iki ay oruç tutmalıdırlar; Allah tarafından tevbenin kabulüne bir karşılık olarak: Zira Allah her şeyi bilendir, her hükmünde tam isabet edendir.

No believer shall kill another believer, unless it is an accident. If one kills a believer by accident, he shall atone by freeing a believing slave, and paying a compensation to the victim's family, unless they forfeit such a compensation as a charity. If the victim belonged to people who are at war with you, though he was a believer, you shall atone by freeing a believing slave. If he belonged to people with whom you have signed a peace treaty, you shall pay the compensation in addition to freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find a slave to free, you shall atone by fasting two consecutive months, in order to be redeemed by GOD. GOD is Knower, Most Wise.,

Yanlışlıkla olmadıkça, inanmış bir kişi, inanmış bir diğer kişiyi öldüremez. Kim inanmış bir kişiyi yanlışlıkla öldürürse, özgürlüğü alınmış inanmış bir kişiyi özgürlüğüne kavuşturmakla ve onların karşılıksız yardım olarak bağışlamaları dışında, ailesine karşılık ödemekle yükümlüdür. İnanmış bir kişi olmasına karşın, sizinle savaş durumunda olan bir toplumdan ise inanmış bir kişiyi özgürlüğüne kavuşturmanız gerekir. Aranızda antlaşma olan bir toplumdan ise ailesine karşılık ödemeniz ve inanmış bir kişiyi özgürlüğüne kavuşturmanız gerekir. Yine de bulamayan kişi, Allah'a pişmanlık olarak, iki ay aralıksız oruç tutmalıdır. Çünkü Allah, Bilendir; Bilgelik ve Adaletle Yönetendir.
